Description

Jinshofu Premium Gluten-Free Wheat Starch Powder – Archival Conservation Paste
Jinshofu (also known as Zin Shofu or Zen Shofu) is a highly refined, premium-grade precipitated wheat starch powder imported directly from Japan. Trusted by museum professionals and conservators worldwide for over a thousand years, it is the industry-standard choice for cooking traditional, museum-grade adhesive pastes.
Through an intensive double-refining and purification process, the insoluble proteins and gluten are completely removed from the starch. This unique purification prevents the dried paste from turning brittle, yellowing, or attracting pests over time. It yields an incredibly smooth, pH-neutral, and beautifully translucent paste that is stronger and significantly more flexible than standard rice starch.
Key Features & Applications
  • Paper Repair & Hinging: The definitive adhesive for hinging fine art prints, repairing tears in fragile documents, and lining delicate paper artifacts.
  • Chine-Collé & Printmaking: Extremely popular among printmakers and paper artists for chine-collé, collage, and scroll mounting due to its excellent flat-drying properties.
  • Bookbinding & Spine Lining: Offers a slow drying time (“open time”), allowing precise positioning while forming a flexible, non-warping bond on bookcloth and paper linings.
  • 100% Reversible & Archival: Easily water-soluble even decades after curing, ensuring all structural interventions remain fully reversible under strict archival ethics.
  • Fine Sieve Texture: Yields a lump-free, ultra-fine consistency when strained through a traditional Norikoshi sieve or standard conservation mesh.
